On the occasion of the movement «July without plastic»we thought it would be useful to address this topic on the blog too.
Sustainability is a buzzword these days. More and more people are concerned about understanding its meaning and taking steps to adopt healthier habits in their daily lives. This concern has become widespread for several years also among companies, which we can see in the campaigns that brands conduct, in the messages they promote, the CSR component (from English – Corporate Social Responsibility) being more and more present lately.
Why is it important to support initiatives that create sustainable products?
When you start to inform yourself about pollution and its effects, about what you can do to improve the quality of life, when you start to concretely reduce consumption, reuse objects and recycle what you can, you become much more aware of everything that pollution means and at the same time you start to feel better about yourself knowing that you are taking measures to adopt behavior that respects the environment and its resources (which unfortunately we know too well are limited).

Here you are 5 topics this is why it is good to support local businesses that make sustainable products:
1. Save money medium and long term
It seems tempting to invest less money for a good that we need, but most of the time the following has been proven: the less we give that good, the more often we have to change it.
And to give you a concrete example we will focus on our area of activity. If let’s say you go shopping twice a week and each time you buy a plastic bag (for which you pay about 1 lei), with a simple calculation we find that you end up spending 2 lei a week just to buy the plastic bags, which means you end up giving 8 lei a month, and per year you reach the amount of 96 lei. With this money you can choose to buy 2 or even 3 canvas bags from us, which you can use for many years if you take care of it (the price for a bag varies between 25 and 39 lei).
And this is just an example, think how much savings you could get if you applied this algorithm to all the choices you make in your daily life.

2. You are doing good for your health
By shopping consciously, you realize how many of the products you buy are harmful to your health, as well as that of those around you, and you can opt for eco-friendly alternatives. Starting from the example in point 1 above, think about the plastic bags you carry with you when you go shopping. Most of the time they are disposable or you can use them 2-3 times. Well, these products, once thrown in the garbage, cannot be recycled and end up incinerated, which implies an increase in the level of air pollution with toxic substances, a phenomenon to which you too have contributed with your choices. If instead I had opted for an eco-friendly option, a reusable product, such as our cotton bag, a Puzzletex bag or backpack, the negative effects I mentioned above would no longer exist.

3. You’re doing good for the environment
By choosing reusable products, you encourage alternatives that don’t harm the environment. Long-lasting products mean less waste and therefore less pollution.
4. Contribute to the reduction greenhouse gases
When you choose the products of local businesses, in addition to supporting the activity of their respective initiatives, you also contribute to reducing the impact on the environment, more precisely you reduce your carbon footprint.
It is important to remember here the fact that these gases, once they reach the atmosphere, equally contribute to the phenomenon of global warming, which unfortunately already manifests itself through climate change and soil degradation, phenomena that we feel today.
5. The feel at peace with the choices you make
Choosing an eco-friendly product contributes to the overall reduction of household waste, which leads to transforming the world into a greener place where you and your descendants can live in harmony.
We hope that all this information has been useful to you and that it has helped you make sustainable choices!
