THE MODEL
For this creation I chose to put together two models that I adore.
First of all the silhouette, it is our Galipette model (no longer on sale) with a wide shape, flared at the waist: a perfect fit for me, especially thanks to this fabric which holds little, despite being quite fluid.
And since I love the sunny pleats of the Maison Fauve Zénith dress, I added them to the neckline. In the workshop, we have already sewn this model several times in emerald green viscose crepe and garnet pink viscose twill and we are in love with this model!
And to complete the presentation of this model, we added small “frou-frou” sleeves using the gathering technique. I like to have something on my shoulders to avoid the “Marcel tank top” look, because I find that it doesn’t look very good on me. These «ruffled» sleeves are therefore the ideal compromise for a light dress: no sleeves, but still little!
TAILS AND MODIFICATIONS
As the basis for this dress, I followed our old Galipette pattern in size 38. I then adapted the sun pleats to my neckline also based on Emilie’s pattern in size 38.
SEW
This dress is simple to sew, I have sewn this Galipette pattern many times and many of you know it! The details of the neckline are explained perfectly step by step thanks to Maison Fauve.
We love the little ruffles and gathers at Eglantine and Zoé, so naturally I opted for these little off-the-shoulder sleeves for summer. It is a simple strip that narrows by dying at its two ends, gathered with two gathering threads. With of course a small hem on the edge!
When sewing the sun pleats it is important to specify that they must be done in reverse order to the usual one, so that they create relief and are clearly visible from the outside. In fact, it’s just the opposite of a dart. We mark the folds on the right side and not on the wrong side.
We created a placket at the armhole to hold the flounce sleeves and inserted the flounce between the bust and the placket.
THE FABRIC
Our Ara Tencel Lyocell Twill is perfect for summer: breathable, very soft and fluid in hold. So I naturally adopted it for this dress. Thanks to its weight of 170g/m2, it holds up well, so it easily marks the folds of the sun and gives a nice drape to my flared dress. This “peach skin” sensation is very pleasant on the skin.
The colors of this model, like the blue macaw, are inspired by the famous macaw parrots. The colors therefore had to be bright: we combined pomegranate red, fuchsia pink, emerald green and chick yellow on an ecru background.
As always for Eglantine and Zoé, the quality of the fabric is fundamental for us. This fabric is therefore not transparent and there is no need to double it (it’s better for a summer dress!). Obviously I didn’t line this dress, but obviously we recommend wearing light colored underwear underneath.
MATCH THIS FABRIC
Its ecru background and colored feathers allow the red macaw to combine with different colors:
– Garnet viscose twill
– Pomegranate Viscose Crepe
– Emerald Green Viscose Crepe
For haberdashery associations you can find our pretty matching buttons:
– Chic button: Mother of Pearl, Garnet, Pomegranate and Emerald Green.
– Shiny Button: Garnet, Pomegranate and Emerald Green.
– Essential Button: Mother of Pearl, Garnet, Pomegranate and Emerald Green.
And finally an important detail: the mother-of-pearl sewing thread.

GALIPETTE/ZENITH EVERY DAY
You saw it on our Instagram page, we’ve had really hot weather this summer, so I’ve loved wearing this dress to work, going out and partying. I even think I shot you a few videos with it… This stand is absolutely perfect for sewing on sunny days. I will tell you more soon with our blue macaw.
Until we meet again !
