We sewed our own Tencel Lyocell Twill and it became a beautiful summer onesie! We continue to present our summer cousettes: the Eclipse playsuit by Maison Fauve in our Ara Bleu Tencel Lyocell Twill.
THE MODEL
Here is the first of a long series of this adorable onesie from Emilie! You can find it with us in Terracotta Clovers Viscose Crepe, Dark Lagoon Viscose Twill and Atlantic Blue Polk Poppies Viscose Twill.
We love this model with its sunny pleats on the shoulders, the cuffs on the bottom of the shorts, but also on the sleeves. The overlap on the front that creates a cute V-neck, not too deep and not too little. And I would also like to add a very important detail for me, its pockets!
This playsuit flatters the silhouette with its fitted yet comfortable waist – such an important aspect in everyday life! The crossed front is fastened with three buttons. In our case these are our elegant Emerald Green buttons which match very well with Ara Bleu. They are present for decorative purposes only, as they are worn using the zip on the back.
TAILS AND MODIFICATIONS
No particular modifications for this quilt, we sewed the upper part in 38 and the lower part in 40, as often happens at Maison Fauve. These changes are simple to make, for my part I am used to making these adjustments to best adapt to the shape of my body. This is in no way a problem with the brand’s sizing!
SEW
This Tencel Lyocell Twill is a little wonder to sew, thanks to its hold, its soft touch and the fact that it doesn’t slip under the machine. I loved seeing these flights of colorful feathers and petals come to life under the doe’s foot!
For a little anecdote, we sewed this onesie during childbirth, so we made do with what we had: no 60cm zipper to close the back in our warehouse! We then sewed a 40cm invisible zipper and left an opening at the top of the back, closed with a press stud. In the end we really like this little improvised detail. And I realize that often in sewing, a small hitch or obstacle leads us to be more creative and find solutions that in the end we like even more!
Everything is explained very well in the instructions with numerous diagrams. And if you have any doubts or want even better support, Emilie offers us video tutorials on Youtube. This pattern is accessible to intermediate level seamstresses. The techniques to master are making a buttonhole, installing an invisible zipper, and carefully following the instructions for sun pleats.
THE FABRIC
This new medium from Eglantine and Zoé, Lyocell Tencel Serge, had to be adapted to summer and focused on the environment. In fact, thanks to its technique of recycling the solvents and water used for dyeing, it is more ecological. The wood fibers also come from sustainable forests.
Macaw parrots inspired us to have two versions of this model Red Macaw and Blue Macaw. Here the association between navy blue, petrol blue, royal blue, emerald green and mustard yellow on an ecru background was therefore created. Our ecru Lyocell Tencel Twill base is not see-through (no need for lining for your drawstrings), which was very important for this onesie or any other onesie or dress you may want to sew into this beautiful Ara.
The hold of this fabric is very appreciable for sewing, especially for clearly highlighting sun pleats or cuffs, as well as all the other pretty details. The softness of this Lyocell Tencel Twill is one of the beautiful characteristics of this fabric: it is very simple, it makes you want to caress it continuously!

ONE DAY ECLIPSE, ALWAYS ECLIPSE
We love atelier playsuits for the summer and one-pieces for the winter! Personally I find that the Eclipse pattern is a reference for this type of sewing, I have sewn it several times, with or without adaptations… And this breathable Lyocell Tencel is perfect for spending a fresh and sweet summer.
