Woven and knitted fabrics serve different purposesso if we want the external climate not to be harsh on us, we must pay more attention to the composition of the materials with which our clothes are made. Heavier and thicker fabrics of natural origin provide better insulation from the cold and they are more comfortable. What fabrics are best for fall?

Cashmere and wool are great for sweaters and coats

Cashmere is a type of wool. However, it does not come from sheep, but from goats (cashmere goats) grown in Asia. If you are wondering which fabric will look good in the office and during formal meetings in autumn, you can safely bet on luxury cashmere. This is a noble fabric for sweaters that will not only be pleasant to the touch and delicate, but also very elegant.

When choosing outerwear for autumn, we must pay special attention to the material. Fur wool can come from a variety of animals (not just sheep). The wool fabric not only ensures optimal warmth, but also protects against wind, keeps moisture away and ensures good air circulation. The most preferred (and unfortunately not the cheapest) fur fabric is camel wool. Important: its extraction is a natural process and does not cause suffering to animals!

Cotton: Great for blouses and sweaters

Another tip for good fabric for fall doesn’t come from animals. Cotton is a natural fabric of plant origin. This is a great fabric for scarves, sweaters, blouses and thicker t-shirts. Particularly noteworthy is the so-called brushed cotton, i.e. the popular flannel. Although many of us have an uneasy association with the «immortal» plaid flannel shirt – these are great and warm clothes for fall. Cotton fabrics provide warmth, are comfortable to wear and if you add a mixture of elastic threads (for example elastane), they perfectly accentuate the figure.

Every good fabric wholesaler has at least a few fiber weights to choose from. The higher their value, the thicker and heavier the material.

Denim and corduroy for trousers, skirts and much more!

Denim and corduroy are fabrics characterized by durability, resistance to damage and long life. In addition to the iconic indigo denim, with which the classic trousers commonly known as jeans are made, corduroy is also worth mentioning. This is a very interesting, warm and thick variety of cotton fabric. It is characterized by a three-dimensional texture with convex and parallel lines.

An interesting fact is this corduroy is another form of velvet traditionally worn by all male members of the English royal family. Although the Polish name «velvetas» does not sound pleasant to the ear and is more associated with rough clothes, corduroy trousers and skirts (and even jackets) are a fashionable and interesting offer for autumn.

Velvet and velvet

Velvet and velvet are great fabrics for fall, which is all about luxury. Soft, slightly shiny and pleasant to the touch, they decorate not only elegant interiors, but also the catwalks of famous designers. Velvet and velvet creations were a real gem in last year’s fashion shows of celebrities such as Alexander McQueen or Gucci. Velvet is a great fabric for a lightweight coat that will add casual, everyday style when paired with slightly less complex fabrics.

What is the difference between velvet fabric and velvet? Although both materials are classified as plush fabrics, the main differences are how they are produced and the length of the bristles («trichomes»). Velvet is more noble than velvet and has longer bristles. The most expensive is made of silk. Velvet is thinner than velvet, and when properly prepared, its texture can even mimic suede!
